This project reimagines the Lace Museum’s identity through a comprehensive rebrand encompassing physical and digital touchpoints, as well as web design. The macro identity captures the essence of the museum, blending traditional lace-making artistry with modern innovation. Key elements include an L-shaped logo inspired by single-line stitching and a grid motif, a refined black, white, and gray palette, and a versatile design system that bridges timeless craftsmanship with contemporary relevance.

For the exhibition *Sacred Fragment*, the micro identity dives deeper into lace’s intricate beauty and historical significance. Leveraging the foundational grid, it showcases sacred and detailed patterns with a vibrant secondary palette inspired by Venetian aesthetics. This dynamic visual language highlights lace's cultural evolution while seamlessly adapting to both physical installations and digital platforms, creating an immersive and cohesive visitor experience.

Museum Info

The Lace Museum in Burano, Italy, is a cultural gem dedicated to preserving the island’s centuries-old lace-making tradition. Located in the historic Podestà of Torcello palace, the museum showcases rare Venetian and lagoon laces from the 16th century to modern times. It was established in 1978 in the former Burano Lace School, which operated from 1872 to 1970, and offers visitors a glimpse into the intricate craftsmanship, history, and artistry of Venetian lace.

About Lace Art

Venetian lace is a type of needle lace that originated in Venice, Italy, during the Renaissance. Known for its intricate and elaborate designs, it often features floral patterns and ornamental details. Traditionally handmade using a needle and thread, Venetian lace involves creating the lace pattern on a temporary backing, which is later removed to leave just the lace.

Digital Touch Point

The digital touchpoints extend the Lace Museum’s identity into interactive and immersive experiences. Through a seamless fusion of design and technology, the museum’s narrative unfolds across digital platforms—ranging from exhibition microsites to interactive archives and on-site projections.
